The students in grades one through five meet at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church from 4:45 – 6:45 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Daily Routine
The younger students at this site enjoy spending time on the playground where they play on the jungle gym, swings and other equipment. After enjoying a healthy snack, students work with volunteer tutors on homework and basic skills in the areas of reading, writing and math.

Other Activities

  • Jr. League of Raleigh members provide enrichment activities and serve as reading tutors for the elementary students four afternoons each month as part of their “Team AWCM” program. Enrichment activities include nutrition and preparing healthy snacks, programs on safety, art and music as well as presentations by the Mad Scientist, the Bouncing Bulldogs, a jump rope team based in Durham, Kids on the Block puppet show, yoga and many other fun activities.
  • Each year a Winter Celebration takes place in December at the Western Blvd. Presbyterian Church site. This event brings parents, students, teachers, volunteers, church members, neighbors and Board members together to enjoy a meal and entertainment. The highlight of the evening is the presentation of student gifts from the Angel Tree.
